Gun Reported Stolen from Tampa & More Firearms Found In Newburgh
A gun reported stolen from the Sunshine State as well as a number of other guns were recovered by City of Newburgh Police.
On Monday, two City of Newburgh Police Officers assigned to a special foot patrol detail under G.I.V.E (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) were sent to patrol the area of William Street and Hasbrouck Street. Authorities say this area is known to have a high number of gun related incidents.
One officer located two loaded handguns in a shoebox that was inside a trash can. A Dan Wesson .357 magnum revolver reported stolen from Tampa, Florida and a High Point .380 caliber semi-auto pistol were found.
Officers then noticed a vehicle parked near the trash can. Police say the vehicle was unregistered with the hood slightly open. An officer lifted the hood and saw a black plastic bag stuffed inside the engine compartment.
A loaded Raven Arm .25 caliber semi-auto pistol was recovered inside the bag, officials say.
The firearms were seized by crime scene unit detectives and the investigation is ongoing.
