If you've always wanted to learn how to fish, but never knew anyone to show you how, the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has come up with a special program designed to increase your fishing skills and confidence, and they're holding a free event at the Brookfield Town Beach on Candlewood Lake Road tomorrow, Thursday June 10, 2021.

The DEEP's fishing events are free, and they're designed for adults 16 and up, and families with children ages 8 and up. CT DEEP has been doing three of these special events around the state since April, and they will continue for another couple of months, through August, so if you can't make it to the event in Brookfield tomorrow, there are plenty more scheduled, click HERE to search for an event or location nearest you. In order to take part in these events, you must register and get a Conservation Identification Number from the state through that link.

If you are planning on attending the DEEP's free fishing event, you must wear a mask, you can bring your own fishing equipment and tackle, or they will have some for you to use when you get there. They also suggest you bring a chair, so you can sit and be comfortable, and also if you're planning on keeping the fish you catch, bring a cooler filled with ice along with you.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for the event, which is taking place tomorrow, Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 4-8PM, at the Brookfield Town Beach, at 500 Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield.
