Flood Warning Issued for Dutchess County
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Dutchess County until 2pm Monday afternoon. The forecast is calling for heavy rain to move through the Hudson Valley, prompting the flood warning. As of 9pm Sunday night the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie was at 2.8 feet. Flood stage for the river is five feet. Based on the rain forecasted, the Hudson River should reach flood stage around 1am Monday morning. By 2am Monday morning, the river should be at 5.2 feet which is above flood stage. According to the National Weather Service, the river should recede by Monday afternoon.
Minor flooding is expected especially in lowlands, boat docks and boat launches. There should not be much damage from this particular flood warning. The National Weather Service forecast is calling for rain all day Monday with one or two inches of rainfall. Temperatures will stay in the mid-50s. Showers stay in the forecasts for Monday night and Tuesday.
