Sunday kicked off National Fire Prevention week and many fire departments around the Hudson Valley are heading out to help the community understand fire prevention.

Rosendale Fire Department and New Windsor Fire Department held open houses and pancake breakfasts inviting the community in to take a tour of their departments all while getting a firm understanding of fire safety. CJ and I thought it would be a good idea to bring in a couple firefighters to chat about what measures to take with our family when it comes to being prepared and what to do during a fire.

Shawn and Keith from the Red Hook Fire Department joined us this morning, check it out:

Like Shawn and Keith said, volunteers are needed. Even if you're not looking to go into the fires, they need help in their administrative positions as well. If you're interested in join up with the Red Hook Fire Department check out their website Redhookfire.org.

Another reminder, with daylight savings time coming make sure you change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
