Fast work by the Red Hook Fire Department, prevented major damage at the restaurant located on Route 9, just south of the village of Red Hook.

According to the Daily Freeman, firefighters arrived at the popular BBQ restaurant just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night and found smoke coming from the rear of the building.

After investigating they found that the fire was in the wall of the restaurant’s boiler room, right near the hot water heater.

Fire Chief Rich Hilbrandt told the Freeman that it took firefighters just under 15 minutes to put out the fire and the firefighters quick actions prevented any flames from reaching the ceiling, which could have caused the fire to spread throughout the restaurant.

The fire department said that the restaurant did sustain minor smoke damage and that the good news is that there was no structural damage to the kitchen or dining room.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and not considered to be suspicious.
