Film Shooting in Hudson Valley Recasts Lead
Earlier this month, we told you that Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, was starring in a new film that was shooting right here in the Hudson Valley. As it turns out, Larson was not present for the day of shooting at Red Line Diner in Fishkill, and now, according to a collider.com report, she has stepped away from the project altogether (no doubt needing a break between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame). The film, however, will continue to shoot locally, as up-and-coming Irish actress Jessie Buckley has been announced as Larson's replacement.
The new movie, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, has filmed locally in Fishkill and Middletown. It is directed by Charlie Kaufman, who also wrote and produced such films as Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and others. Along with Buckley, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Black Mirror, Fargo), Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine, Hereditary) and David Thewlis (Wonder Woman, the Harry Potter series). The movie, which is based on a popular 2016 novel by Ian Reid, will be released on Netflix.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things is just one of many film and TV productions that have used the Hudson Valley as a backdrop. A Quiet Place famously filmed in Pawling and New Paltz back in 2017, and the final season of Orange is the New Black just recently wrapped production in Rockland County. On top of that, the new HBO series I Know This Much Is True, starring Mark Ruffalo, will begin shooting in Poughkeepsie soon. As the Hudson Valley becomes Hollywood East, which stars are you looking forward to bumping into?
