Easton Corbin Brings Traditional Country Sound to 2015 Taste of Country Festival
Watching Easton Corbin's set at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival was like watching a talented group of sketch comedians. While playing hit after hit, Corbin and his band were humorous and conversational, but instead of laughs, the audience signaled their approval with singalongs and cheers.
Before Corbin even sauntered on stage, a big grin plastered on his face, the crowd was belting every word of his entrance music: AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long." They kept singing as Corbin kicked off his set with "Clockwork," "A Lot to Learn About Livin'," "About to Get Real" and "Lovin' You Is Fun."
Corbin's been a big proponent of the traditional country sound, and just in case that wasn't clear from his original music, he performed a set of covers during his stage time that juxtaposed the music his friends were listening to when he was younger (Michael Jackson's "Beat It," Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and TLC's "Waterfalls," all of which Corbin's band played snippets of) with old-school country tunes such as Toby Keith's "Shoulda Been a Cowboy" and Kenny Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."
"Roll With It," "A Little More Country Than That," "Baby Be My Love Song" and "Where I Come From" highlighted the second half of Corbin's set. During "Where I Come From," Corbin took the opportunity to introduce his backing band, highlighting each member's home state or another quirky fact with a fitting song: "Hotel California," "All My Ex's Live in Texas" and "Sweet Home Alabama," for example.
Corbin wrapped up his hour-long set with "All Over the Road."
