Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
While many ceremonies will be held this weekend throughout the Hudson Valley to pay tribute to our fallen men and women, there will also be barbecues and parties as it is the unofficial beginning of summer.
A few adult beverages just might be in your plans for the weekend, and that's fine, just please, don't drink and drive.

Memorial Day weekend has, unfortunately, a history of being a deadly weekend in terms of driving while drunk or driving under the influence. According to Dutchess County Executive, Marcus Molinaro, State Police and local law enforcement agencies will be increasing patrols statewide to combat drunk and impaired driving this weekend.
You can expect to see sobriety checkpoints as well as increased patrols by State Police and local law enforcement agencies during Memorial Day weekend, starting Friday.
Enjoy your holiday weekend, but please be smart and don’t drink and drive.
