Tomorrow, October 4th, the Dutchess County Rail Trail will be inducted into the Rail Trail Hall-of-Fame. The Hudson Valley Trail Network (which includes the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail, the Walkway Over the Hudson, and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail) received 19,885 votes during a nationwide vote that took place earlier this summer from June 6th to June 15th. The Rail Trail Hall-of-Fame is run by the RTC or Rail-to-Trails Conservancy.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro thanked everyone for their votes via press release and commended what the Rail Trail means to the Hudson Valley stating "Together with the Walkway Over the Hudson and Hudson Valley Rail Trail, we have created an 18-mile-plus world-class treasure that has no equal."

The Rail Trail makes for fantastic runs, walks and bike rides with family and friends. It's a great to have access to the trails and new ways to explore the Hudson Valley. While Dutchess County Rail Trail is inducted into the Hall of Fame, the trails through Wallkill, Mohonk and Minnewaska State Park are also popular bike/hike trails.

If you would like to attend the induction ceremony please be at the Walkway State Park’s East or West Approach by 9:45 am. The Poughkeepsie and Highland Boy Scout Troops will lead a Color Guard procession at 10am.
