Why does it seem that unhealthy food choices are often times significantly cheaper than those are healthy ones? I think that's a bit backwards. Everyone has a right to have access to healthy food options for themselves and their families, without having it break their budget.

Dutchess Outreach has been working tirelessly to do just that and once again they will be presenting the Poughkeepsie Plenty Fresh Market to provide access to affordable healthy food for everyone. It has just begun for this season and will continue until October. The produce for sale is all from various Hudson Valley Farms.

The Poughkeepsie Plenty Fresh Market will be making stops every Wednesday from 11:30 until 1 at The Family Partnership on Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie and from 2 until 3 at Maplewood on Maple Street in Poughkeepsie. In addition, every Thursday you can find the mobile Fresh Market from 11:30 to 1 at the Interfaith Towers on Washington Street in Poughkeepsie and from 2 to 3 at Eastman and Bixby on Montgomery Street in Poughkeepsie.

The Poughkeepsie Plenty Fresh Market will accept federal food assistance benefits such as WIC(Women, Infant, and Children), SNAP/EBT, and NYSNP vouchers. If you would like more information, pleas call Dutchess Outreach at 845-454-3792.
