
Drug Task Force Raid Multiple Locations in Poughkeepsie
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has announced the results of multiple raids at locations in Poughkeepsie, New York.
It has been a busy couple of months for the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force as they have been tasked with putting alleged drug dealers behind bars in Dutchess County. Almost every week we hear about another round of arrests and this week it appears that they have taken two individuals off the streets who are allegedly selling narcotics at various locations in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Drug Dealers Busted in Poughkeepsie, New York
According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the task force has been conducting investigations into "dangerous narcotic dealers" in Dutchess County. During one of its investigations Drug Task Force Agents began purchasing large quantities of cocaine and dangerous drugs from two separate dealers. Agents identified the dealers as 49-year-old Terence Whitted and 35-year-old Deon T. Elting. Following the purchases they conducted simultaneous raids at the residences of the suspected dealers in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Armed with search warrants, agents executed simultaneous raids at a residence on Marshall Street and a residence at the Poughkeepsie Commons Apartment Complex in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, February 18th, seizing large quantities of cocaine, as well as crack cocaine, fentanyl, cash, and two vehicles.
Two Arrested After Drug Raids
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in each raid, which resulted in Elting's arrest at his residence on Marshall Street in the City of Poughkeepsie. He was charged with one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, a Class A-1 Felony. Several other charges are pending against Elting, who was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Whitted was arrested at the Poughkeepsie Commons Apartment Complex also in the City of Poughkeepsie and charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, a Class A-2 Felony. Several other charges are pending against Whitted, who was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Following the arrests the Drug Task Force said they will "continue to identify those dangerous individuals selling narcotics in our communities in our effort to prevent fatal overdoses and suppress violent and property crimes fueled by the drug trade."
