In today's world, there are Facebook Groups and other social media outlets that help spread the word when a pet gets lost. Not all pets get found but a larger number do now than in the past thanks to organizations dedicated to finding them safe.

There is no feeling more helpless than when your pet has gone on the run. Sadly it happens often and more so once they are out of their surroundings their survival mode kicks in and that can make it even harder to rescue them.

Bear Spotted By Upstate Thermal Drone Services Huddled in the Snow

This was the case with Bear the Chihuahua who went missing last week in Sullivan County. Upstate Thermal Drone Services shared a video with an explanation that all pet owners should watch.

Very often the pet is so far into survival mode which is an alert and defense behavior that kicks in when they are stressed and scared. The pet will often run from everyone even someone they know. This is one of the reasons you always hear professional pet finders tell you not to chase or approach an animal on the run.

If your pet ends up missing there are a lot of people willing to help but make sure you are working with someone reputable, unfortunately, there are people who try to take advantage when you are vulnerable.

HV Lost Pets and Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley are both groups that can help if you and your pet need to be reunited. They have contacts such as Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery that they can put you in touch with plus they are followed by avid pet people who look out for scammers.
