I can't believe I'm saying this, but why is it so hard to get a cake for your dog in the Hudson Valley?

Cake for Dogs in the Hudson Valley

Let me explain: I don't want a cake for my dog. At least I don't want to want one. I grew up with canine companions my entire life and I never dreamt that I'd consider feeding them anything more than kibble and the occasional treat. But here I am. Maybe my issue is that I couldn't get one even if I wanted one, because try as hard as I can, I can't find a business in the Hudson Valley that makes a cake (not treats, but a cake) for dogs. I know I'm not crazy because the do exist elsewhere in New York. Here are the closest options:

Dog Cakes in Albany, NY

One of the closest options for a dog cake is further north in the capital region. Mugzy's Barkery in East Greenbush, NY offers custom-made deserts for your furry companion, including multi-layer options with cream cheese frosting. They also have cupcakes and "party favor" bags. I'd say the bad news is that you'd have to make the hour-long drive to pick it up, but if you're that determined to get your puppy a desert, that's a small price to pay.

Dog Cakes in Port Washington, NY

If you have the stamina to drive even further, Sisters Confections in Long Island offers cakes for both humans and dogs. With multiple meat options and a promise of no sugar or salt, their cakes (luckily) shouldn't tempt a human to accidentally eat it. The business is online-only, so shipping might be an option, but either way you will need to pre-order your cake on their website if you want to treat your four-legged friend.

Woof Gang Bakery in Rye, NY also offers dog cakes in addition to treats and grooming services. There are daycare options, too.

Dog Bakeries in the Hudson Valley

While I can't seem to find a cake for a dog in our area, there are still plenty of places to pick up homemade treats. Beacon Barkery in Beacon, NY is highly rated on Google, as is Bad to the Bones Biscuits in Newburgh, NY. The Natural Pet Center in Gardiner, NY hasn't disappointed either time my wife and I stopped in as well.

Speaking of dogs, check out this amazing rescue by the Newburgh fire department below.

Lilly, the dog needed a little help from Truck 1 and the City of Newburgh Fire Department back on February 11th. Thankfully, she was returned to her owners without injury. Round of ap-PAWS for the City of Newburgh Fire Department for their quick response and heroic efforts.
