Why do you do what you do for a living?

It's a question I think most of us adults have asked ourselves over the years. It probably goes something like this, Me: "Why did I choose this as a career?" Answer....?????

Jess had mention on the show the other day about country singer Cody Johnson having that "A-HA" moment back when he was a kid in school. He was performing in a talent show and sang a Garth Brooks song in front of his classmates and all the girls in the school were screaming for him. He said that's when he knew country was his calling.

Did you have a moment like that?

I know that I did. Way back when I was in school I would always listen to the radio for my favorite songs and would always hear the DJ's do "shout outs" on the air. Sometimes they would just say peoples names and other times they would do song dedications from one person to another.

When I was like 15, I remember calling PYX 106 in Albany to make a dedication to my girlfriend at the time and wanted the DJ to play Led Zeppelin "Thank You". It went something like this, "This is for _______ from CJ, he said if the sun refused to shine, I would still be lovin' you! Yes its the words from one of the best love songs of all time and YES it is also one of the cheesiest things I have ever done.

Anyway the DJ told me he would play it between 9 and 10 p.m. that night. So I told my girl at the time to be listening, I got my boom box out, a fresh cassette tape and sat and waited for it to play. I waited for hours and it never came on. WAIT....a DJ lied to me? LOL!

Yes he did and it never came on but I remember saying to myself one day I gonna do a radio show and do my own dedications whenever I want and BOOM, here I am. Honestly I never really thought about that moment until I was already doing radio for a few years but I do think that was my A-HA moment.
