Devastating Car Accident on New York State Thruway
A Tuesday morning car crash on the New York State Thruway has many believing in miracles!
Over the last few weeks we've shared numerous articles regarding various car accidents from all over the Hudson Valley and oftentimes accidents that leave behind pictures like these leave behind heartbreaking and tragic results.
Mangled Mess Has Many Believing in Miracles
"It's a miracle" is what many folks are saying after looking at the pictures that the Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps posted to its Facebook page after responding to a motor vehicle accident on the New York State Thruway this week.
The post explained that on the morning of Tuesday, December 3rd, the Hillburn Fire Department, Spring Hill Central, and RPS Medic 23 all responded to a rollover accident with entrapment on the New York State Thruway. As the first responders arrived on the scene they found that the vehicle had rolled over multiple times and struck two tractor-trailers before it came to a rest.

Responders reported that the driver of the vehicle had "self extricated, and was evaluated, and transported to the appropriate facility."
As you can see in the pictures, it's truly a miracle that anyone survived a crash that leaves behind such devastation.
Many left comments on the Ambulance Corps Facebook page saying things like "Wow to live after that kind of a crash…. Angels are with them…", and "Omg how did he or she survive that and just get out!!!!!" The Ambulance Corps didn't provide many details about the victim in the crash or what could have led to the crash but when more information becomes available we will update this article.
Sadly, too many crashes like this don't have the same ending as above. Just last week the New York State Police responded to two fatal crashes on back-to-back days.
Two Fatal Crashes on New York Highways
Sadly, the first accident happened on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m. when the New York State Police (NYSP) responded to a crash on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Putnam Valley. That crash tragically claimed the life of 58-year-old Michael Fitzgerald of Fishkill, New York.
The next day, tragedy struck on Interstate 87 in the city of Yonkers at approximately 6:23 p.m., when 43-year-old Christopher A. Colom, of Tilson, NY, was killed after he was struck by another driver after he exited his broken-down vehicle.
Our thoughts and prayers are with both of the victim's family and friends.
