The largest chain of family-style restaurants in the United States has announced its plans to close 150 restaurants over the next year.

If this sounds like something you've heard before you aren't alone as another big name in food has announced its plans to not only overhaul its menu but also to close 150 restaurants by the end of 2025.

Back in April, we learned that the seafood restaurant Red Lobster was filing for bankruptcy and closing numerous locations. That was followed by TGI Fridays abruptly closing various locations across the country including restaurants in Middletown and Poughkeepsie, New York.

What Denny's Are Closing?

Denny's executive vice president and chief global development officer Steve Dunn said that the specific list of restaurants closing hasn't been finalized yet but did say that they will be targeting "underperforming restaurants" that are weighing down the company because they are either too old to be remodeled or in areas that have become unprofitable. Currently, there are 36 Denny's in New York including restaurants in Buffalo, Queensbury, Saratoga Springs, Middletown, and Newburgh, New York.

Changes at Denny's

Denny's is also considering a major change to its requirement for franchisees to stay open 24/7 and is expected to begin to offer a smaller menu with the number of options being cut in half from 97 down to 46 when the changes are complete.
