Train Accident Closes the CSX Tracks in New York for the Second Time
Once again the trains on the CSX tracks in Ulster County were stopped on the tracks in an area near Kingston over this past weekend. That makes a total of two incidents on the tracks in less than a week.
Although no official report has been issued there have been numerous comments by contributors on social media community groups that there was another train accident in Ulster County over the weekend.
According to one emergency group, the accident involved a train and a pedestrian.

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 2, 2024, There was a report of emergency responders being called to the New Salem Road CSX train crossing for the report of a train hitting a person.
New Salem Road is in Port Ewen just south of Kingston in Ulster County.
Last Tuesday afternoon the CSX trains stopped running around 2 PM due to an accident where a train hit a car allegedly parked on the track. The report went out just after 2 PM for an area 400 meters south of the Esopus Avenue railroad crossing.
According to the information released by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office about last Tuesday's accident, they were called out for a train hitting a car and later discovered that the car, that had been struck by the train had been intentionally parked on the tracks.
The drive was identified at 31-year-old David Rivers 31 of Bridgeport Connecticut.

Both accidents were within miles of each other but appeared to be unrelated. Tuesday's accident had the rail line shut down for approximately 4 hours. It is not clear how long the tracks were closed on Sunday.
