Crash Totals Hudson Valley Street Sweeper
The accident occurred on Friday morning 5/11 around 9:45 in the morning in Ulster County.
According to the Daily Freeman, the street sweeper which was a shared piece of equipment between four municipalities including Woodstock, the towns of Hurley, Ulster and Shandaken, was totaled in the accident.
Woodstock Supervisor Bill McKenna told the Freeman that “One of our highway workers was driving the street sweeper up Glasco Turnpike, going west, as a white car driven by an older woman, heading east, started to swerve into his lane he went to the right and ended up in the ditch. The other driver corrected and continued on.”
McKenna also said that “In fairness to the driver of the white car, the street sweeper didn’t crash into a tree, it didn’t roll over, and I’m sure if you looked back in your rear-view mirror, it wouldn’t have appeared that anything was wrong, I probably would have kept driving, too.”
The driver of the sweeper was not injured in the accident and did not get the make, model or license plate number of the other vehicle.
