It's not every day we get big country acts here in the Hudson Valley especially in Poughkeepsie. And I'm sure like many of you, when I heard Chris Young and Jerrod Niemann were going to be at the Mid Hudson Civic Center I knew I couldn't miss it.

I was lucky enough to go to the concert this weekend and let me tell you..those boys did not disappoint!

Playing to a packed house the show opened up with up and comer Courtney Cole. Opening acts don't get enough credit, but Courtney did a great job getting the crowd  ready for Jerrod Niemann and she even hung out after signing autographs for everyone who wanted one.

Jerrod Niemann came ready to party. His set was made up of new and old hits alike. Obviously, songs like "What Do You Want" and "Lover, Lover" got a great crowd reaction, everyone was really into it. But the one song that really got everyone going was "Donkey." And actually, one of his band members was running around stage with a donkey mask on, which just added to the insanity. "Drink to That All Night" got the place rocking(you can check out the quick Vine below), everyone was up and dancing in the aisles, and yes you don't have to ask...I was one of those people.

I've never considered myself a big Chris Young fan, but I have to say I appreciate him so much more after seeing him live. I always take into consideration how an artist performs live and how they sound live verse how they sound on the radio. Chris Young sounds just as good live as he does on a CD, maybe even better.  This was one of the first stops on his summer tour and they were trying out a new set design, which was fantastic. They had a crazy light show and digital screen behind him, I'm pretty sure at one point the lights were flashing "Aw Naw."  Chris performed all of his popular hits along with a few new ones from his new album "AM." My favorites from the night include "Getting You Home," "You," "Tomorrow," and "Take It From There." He also did covers of Eric Clapton's "Change The World" and ZZ Tops "Sharp Dressed Man." He closed the show with the ZZ Top cover and I kind of wished he played one of his songs to close out the show, but either way it was a great

Before the show I got to quickly meet Chris and Jerrod, they were super nice guys and they were excited to be playing in Poughkeepsie. And I just have to add that Chris Young smelled fantastic, like heaven ::swoon::

I had a great time at the show, so much fun in fact that my phone died during Jerrod Niemann's set. If you have any pictures of the show that you would like to share with us, stop by our Facebook Page! Let us know what you thought of the show!
