First Homicide in Cohoes, New York This Year

On September 14th, 2025, New York State Police reported that Cohoes, New York recorded their first homicide of the year.

41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez was found deceased in her home at Earl Lynn Court in the Upstate, New York. Rodriguez lived at the home with her boyfriend, Anthony Bechand.

As details of the story began to unfold, we learned that Bechand was a suspect in the case and was on the run.

U.S. Marshals Post $5,0000 Reward for Bechand Information

Bechand is described as a 53-year-old, white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.

Shortly after Rodriguez was found deceased, New York State Police were asking the public for help in locating her boyfriend, Bechand.

Bechand's white, 2024 Chevrolet Silverado was found on County Route 60 in Franklin County in the Town of Brighton on September 14th. However, Bechand was nowhere to be found and considered armed and dangerous.

The U.S. Marshals along with local law enforcement got involved and offered up a $5,000 reward for information on Bechand's whereabouts.

On social media New York State Police wrote

 "Law Enforcement is seeking the public’s help with any information leading to Bechand’s whereabouts and are asking for individuals with camps, trail cameras, or security cameras in the area" to call the NYSP at 518-897-2000 if you see any unusual or suspicious activity.

Law Enforcement held a press conference on September 25th, 2025 sharing more details about Bechand and his whereabouts.

Cohoes Murder Suspect Apprehended in The Adirondacks

The details given to the public seem to have come in handy.

According to authorities, a civilian spotted Bechand walking near where his vehicle was abandoned. New York State Troopers from Troop B were able to apprehend the suspect.
