39 Years Later No Answers in Cindy Rowles Case in Kingston, NY
On August 16th, 1986, a 17-year-old left her house in search of her boyfriend and was never seen again.
39 years later and there are still no answers in the case of missing Cindy Rowles from Kingston, New York. The Facebook page Hudson Valley Cold Cases And Missing People shared details about Rowles case on the anniversary this year.
According to their post, Rowles disappearance was treated as a runaway situation. The Facebook post goes on to add "That assumption meant there were no urgent alerts, no headlines, and little public attention."
The Charley Project website shares that Cindy was last seen in the passenger seat of a "vehicle circling around the parking lot of a restaurant at state Route 28 and Maverick Road in West Hurley" on August 16th, 1986.
Cindy has not been seen or heard from since. There has been no activity with her Social Security Number or credit cards.
Possible Development in the Case
While there are no current leads in Cindy Rowles disappearance, there was a point in the early 2000s when a man came forward confessing to playing a part in Cindy's disappearance.
According to The Charley Project "a man with a history of mental illness" told police he was involved in Cindy's case and in the disappearance of Laura Smith Williams from Connelly, NY back in 1994.
At the time the man told police where to find evidence in both case. The Charley Project reports that authorities found the man to be credible, but didn't charge him in either case "due to lack of evidence to support his statement."
