Chris Stapleton stopped in New York for a three-song performance on Today Tuesday morning, and though it was a short set, thousands of music fans filled Rockefeller Plaza to catch a glimpse of the master at work.

Stapleton kicked things off with a stripped-down performance of "Broken Halos." With his voice and acoustic guitar at the forefront, the beautiful song impressed with additional light percussion.

Always by his side, the singer was assisted on harmonies by his wife, Morgane, on all three songs. The striking "Second One to Know" picked up the pace with gritty electric guitar and Stapleton's soulful vocals before he closed out his set with his breakthrough single "Tennessee Whiskey." Backed by bassist J.T. Cure, drummer Derek Mixon and Morgane, Stapleton proved the old adage that less is more to be true.
