Summer heat and humidity is right around the corner, and if your current window or wall air conditioner is an older model, it could be costing you a lot of money every time you turn it on. Did you know that simply by turning in that old unit you could get $50 or $100 rebates with the purchase of a new Energy Star unit.

Central Hudson is once again offering it's customers the chance to trade in and recycle their old, working window and wall air conditioners and receive rebates of $50 to $100 with the purchase of new Energy Star® units. To kick off this year's program, an Air Conditioner Turn-In event will be held at the Sears parking lot located at the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 28.

Not only will this event save you money in the purchasing of a new unit, reduce your cooling costs for the summer, it will also ensure that your old air conditioners will be properly recycled.

Central Hudson’s residential customers are eligible to recycle and receive rebates for up to four air conditioners per residential account. You can continue to turn in air conditioners through September 15, at  Sears locations in the Poughkeepsie Galleria, the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston and Newburgh Mall.

Central Hudson's Energy Efficiency Program also offers additional rebates for high efficiency home heating and cooling systems, for turning-in and recycling older working refrigerators and freezers, and the purchasing of high-efficiency heat pump water heaters.
