Whitehall, New York Hosting Unique Sasquatch Festival This Month
A town in Upstate, New York is getting ready for an influx of Sasquatch believers.
Is Whitehall, New York The Bigfoot Capital of the US?
The great Bigfoot debate never settles down. Is Bigfoot real? Are people just making up these sightings in their minds? Whatever your belief may be, the Town of Whitehall, New York in Washington County embraces it all.
For years the region has been known for its Bigfoot sightings and experiences, so much so that in 2023 the William G. Pomeroy Foundation gave them their own Legends and Lore Historical Marker.
The marker reads:
Bigfoot Sanctuary.
For centuries, local stories tell of sightings of giant hairy beasts that walk upright and leave huge footprints. Local law protects them.
The WGP Foundation explains that back in 2004 a law was put on the books "prohibiting hunting the beloved, albeit mysterious bigfoot creature." Now, Whitehall is considered a Bigfoot sanctuary.
