After former Steel Magnolia singer Meghan Linsey made some shocking allegations about a sexual assault and its aftermath, the head of her former label has spoken out about her claims.

Linsey and her Steel Magnolia partner, Joshua Scott Jones, shot to fame after winning Can You Duet in 2009 and signed to Big Machine Label Group afterward. In a Facebook post after the Oct. 9 presidential debate, Linsey said Donald Trump's much-publicized remarks about women that were captured on tape in 2005 prompted her to come forward with her story.

"When I was touring with Steel Magnolia in 2010, a very powerful man in the music business grabbed up my skirt. He was groping me and proceeded to try to pick me up by my ass on a bus in front of a lot of important people," Linsey shares.

“I was mortified and told him not to touch me and to put me down. It caused quite a scene and I could tell that he was embarrassed and angry. The next night he came up behind me and whispered in my ear, he said, ‘I have boats bigger than you could ever imagine, and I could put you in the middle of the ocean where no one would ever hear from you again. Just remember that.’ He laughed and walked away."

Afterward, the singer says she told her manager, a woman, who "told me to never breathe a word of that story to anyone ever. I told the head of my label and he told me the same thing. They both said if I wanted to have a career in country music then I could never say anything about it out loud, to anyone."

Steel Magnolia were signed to Big Machine Label Group in 2010. On Monday (Oct. 10), BMLG President Scott Borchetta — pictured with the duo in 2010 in the photo above —issued a statement to Fox411 Country, denying any previous knowledge of Linsey's story.

"Meghan Linsey is a highly regarded former member of the Big Machine Label Group and we would never condone, let alone silence an artist on this label who experienced this kind of behavior," Borchetta says. "We have a clear-cut HR protocol for these types of occurrences, and while Meghan never came to me about any such incident, I checked our records and with our staff to see if she'd gone to someone else within the company. There is no record, nor any recollection from me or the staff of the incident she's describing. Had it come to our attention, we would have certainly acted quickly and decisively on her behalf."

Linsey's former partner and onetime fiance, Joshua Scott Jones, verifies Linsey's recollection of events to Fox, saying, "[Meghan] should really address the FACT that our manager was a woman, who was very instrumental in hushing Meghan about this individual's remarks and talking me out of whipping his ass. Just another corrupt power play in a very shady and most often ambiguous business called the music industry."

Contacted by Yahoo, Linsey declined to name her alleged attacker. In her post, she says she wrote about the incident because "I want to live in a world where women don’t have to be quiet anymore. I’m tired of living in a country where 97 out of 100 rapists walk free. I don’t want a president who perpetuates rape culture and sets the already skewed standard for how men are allowed to treat women. Real men don’t talk like that, real men don’t sexually assault and rape women. Period."

Steel Magnolia parted with Big Machine in 2012. Linsey took second place on The Voice in 2015, and released a new EP, Believer, in July of 2016.
