UPDATE: FEB 3, 2025 5 PM

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Members of the Department of Public Works, along with Orange County Emergency Services - NY, visited the dam today. Their initial findings are that the problem may be caused by ice damming.

Initial evaluations suggest the water flow was caused by the ice jam increasing pressure on the dam spillway. Mitigation efforts to break up and remove the ice are underway to reduce the influence of the ice on the spillway wall. Divers remain on standby and will be deployed if further evaluation is required. (Press Release via Orange County Government Facekbook)

The good news for now is that no immediate threat has been found, so no action is required from the public at this time.
