Two Orphan Bears Spend Winter With Rehabber In New York
They are at it again, the wonderful caregivers at The Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center (FFFWC) have taken in two more orphan bear cubs who are in need of help.
In a social media post late last week the FFFWC shared a photo of the two cubs who had clearly been on their own for a while. Had they not been spotted and brought in for the winter they could have made it through the winter.

The FFWC estimates they were born in January or February of this year. Somehow they managed to stay alive this summer but both cubs are very small for their age. The female cub is about 16 pounds and the male is around 21 pounds. Normally cubs at their age weigh in at around 40 to 50 pounds according to FFFWC.

These two lucky bears will get to winter are the FFFWC in the Catskills and then the hope is they will thrive and be released back to the wild in the spring. As you can see by the picture the two cubs were not fast friends but the FFFWC says that will change.
Once they are ready they will join two other small bears that are also wintering with the FFFWC in an outdoor enclosure. If you would like to help any and all donations are welcome go to the donate button at fffwildlifecenter.org
