‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Casts Michael Pena as Mysterious Character ‘Red’
Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time might have just cast its first villain, in the form of none other than Ant-Man co-star Michael Pena. At this point, we should have learned by now not to be surprised by any more casting choices, as DuVernay first made the central family of the film mixed race instead of white, and cast Zach Galifianakis as a character who’s normally a woman. And now we have Michael Pena, who could appear in the film as one of the most sinister, creepy characters of the book.
Director Duncan Jones Will Finally Start Shooting ‘Moon’ Sequel Next Week
With Warcraft out of the way, Duncan Jones now has time to finally start production on his passion project, Mute. Mute is a sequel of sorts to 2009’s Moon, although the idea for a Berlin-set futuristic sci-fi was germinating before Moon started. The project kept being put on hold again and again, as Jones was busy with Source Code and then this year’s Warcraft, but today he announced that he’s going to start shooting Mute next week.
‘Hidden Figures’ Trailer: Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae Win the Space Race
It’s still not easy for women in the STEM industry, and it was even harder in the 1960s. It’s rare to get a glimpse behind the scenes of auspicious historical events like the success of Project Mercury, and even rarer for the movie to look like so much fun. The new trailer for Hidden Figures gives us just that, with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe portraying the real-life women who helped NASA get ahead in the Space Race that seems as honest to history as it is entertaining.
In Honor of Gene Wilder, ‘Young Frankenstein’ Is Coming Back to Theaters
It’s difficult, maybe impossible, to say which of Gene Wilder’s many performances is his best. He had the fastest hands in the West as Jim, aka the Waco Kid, in Blazing Saddles, he invited us into a world of pure imagination as the titular candyman from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and he accidentally created a not-so-politically-correct Broadway hit in The Producers.
We’re Going Into the Woods in the New Trailer for ‘Blair Witch’
It’s back to the woods we go in the newest trailer for ‘Blair Witch,’ the surprise sequel to The Blair Witch Project that had one of the coolest reveals in recent memory. Marketed as simply ‘The Woods,’ the film had an early screening at San Diego Comic Con, at which the real title and connection to the original film was announced. When the audience exited the theater after it was over, they saw that during the screening the big poster advertising ‘The Woods’ had been swapped for a ‘Blair Witch’ poster.
