Halloween season is officially upon us, and as usual, the most wonderful time of the year (don’t @ me) brings with it a veritable variety pack of tricks and treats. Treats: Scary movies, fun makeup, awkward parties, so much candy! Tricks: Terrible costumes, ranging from “Sexy Handmaid’s Tale” (no really, someone tried to make that happen) to this abomination inspired by horror movie classic Child’s Play, courtesy of Target.

It’s that time again: Prepare your Amazon Prime queues because you’re going to be adding a whole bunch of new movies and shows to your lists come October. And yes, there are plenty of spooky titles to get you in the mood for Halloween, including classics like Carrie and newer releases like Strangers: Prey at Night (which is actually worth your time, I promise). There are some pretty bonkers moments in Stephen King’s IT, including a couple that would fall pretty low on the list of “most likely to be included in a film adaptation.” As it turns out, at least one of those scenes — a climactic supernatural confrontation — will appear in IT: Chapter Two, Andy Muschietti’s sequel to last year’s hit adaptation of the iconic horror novel. Burt Reynolds, the iconic mustachioed star of classics ranging from Smokey and the Bandit to Boogie Nights, has passed away at the age of 82. The actor died early Thursday at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida, as confirmed by his manager. No cause of death has been given at this time.
