Army Reserve Center in Saugerties Named After Local Fallen Soldier

The Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command is scheduled to host a ceremony to name the Saugerties Army Reserve Center for Sgt. Shawn M. Farrell II.

Shawn graduated from Rondout Valley High School in 2008. He was deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011 and again in 2013. Shawn was killed in action on April 28, 2014, when enemy forces attacked his unit with gun fire in Afghanistan.

The event is Saturday, March 7 at 9am at the support command on 1001 Kings Highway, Saugerties.
