Are Social Distancing Fines Coming to the Hudson Valley?
Is the threat of being fined up to $250 enough of a threat for people to take social distancing seriously?
If you've been on any social media platforms lately you have definitely come across a story or picture of people still out and about NOT taking the recommendations that have been put in place to help in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
I'm not sure why anyone would not be taking these warnings seriously at this point? It's mind boggling to me that some still choose to put us all in danger! With that in mind some towns in New York have announced that they are going to start hitting people in the wallet if they don't start listening.
According to the Times Union, the town of Saratoga Springs has announced that they are going to start to allow local police to issue tickets to people who fail to follow the social distancing protocols that have been put in place.
Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner Robin Dalton told the times Union that, "Residents who don’t social distance will be ticketed. We’re going to need help from the residents....We will enforce through ticketing."
He also said that anyone who fails to follow social distancing will initially be given a warning, and then ticketed if they still don't comply, with fines running up to $250.
Lets all hope it doesn't come to this, so take this as a warning, just stay home and stop the spread! PLEASE!
