A Dutchess County man has passed away after a tree accident.

The New York State Police room is reporting that a 38 year old man succumbed to injuries after a tree accident. According to the press release, Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to assist EMS as they helped a subject pinned under a tree in Union Vale at approximately 11:22am on Tuesday August 8.

The Union Vale man was felling trees with a chainsaw in the area of Mallory Road. According to reports he was clearing vacant land when the large tree fell and pinned him. When first responders arrived at the scene they worked to unpin the man who had fell unconscious.

Troopers and EMS then performed life saving measures before the man was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he passed away.

The accident is currently under investigation, but appears to be an accident in nature.

Assisting the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office was the Union Vale Rescue Squad, the Union Vale Fire Department and EMStar Ambulance.
