As beautiful as the Hudson Valley is, sometimes there are things that we want to improve on.  One of those things is the education system.

Niche.com recently analyzed and graded every public school district in the U.S. based on grades, standardized test scores, diversity, math and reading proficiency, graduation rates, teaching quality and more and found some not so good results in the Hudson Valley.

Based on this data, NYUP.com ranked the 53 worst school districts in "Upstate New York" and the Hudson Valley had 5.  One of which was ranked the worst.

Here's the list of the 5:

  • #49 Tri-Valley Central School District
  • #40 Middletown City School District
  • #22 Ellenville Central School District
  • #20 Fallsburg Central School District

and ranked as the worst school district in Upstate New York:

  • Poughkeepsie City School District

With an overall grade of D, they had a 19% math proficiency, 22% reading and only a 60% graduation rate.

This is our youth, our future.  We need to do better.
