Today, May 8th marks the 45th Anniversary of the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge Fire.

To commemorate the event, there is a free, open to the public event at Walk Over The Hudson Park.  In attendance will be more than 12 of the original Firefighters or members of their family that helped battle the blaze on that historic day in 1974.

Local, State and National Officials have been invited to attend and Chief Peter Miller of the Highland Fire Department will be in attendance to speak of that event as he was part of the original crew that battled the blaze.

Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson will also be in attendance to offer some words.

If you would like to attend, the event happens at 11am today but there will be photos, videos and more that can be seen on various social pages around the Hudson Valley.
