100 Charges Given During Big Game Opening Weekend in Sullivan
The Green and Grey patrols were out during opening weekend of Big Game Hunting season 2017 in Sullivan County.
According to a New York State Police press release the NYS Environmental Conservation Police Officers teamed up with the New York State Troopers from November 18th until the 21st while big game hunters got in a rhythm for this hunting season. The troopers were on hand to ensure the safety of hunters, landowners, neighbors and motorists.
While the ECO's and Troopers were out they investigated over 30 complaints in which 100 charges were give out. Of those 100 charges 18 were misdemeanor and 82 of the charges were violation level offenses.
Along with the charges, game was confiscated as well including eight antlered deer, five antlered deer heads, two bears and 71 pounds of processed venison.
As hunting season is in full swing, it would be thoughtful to go over hunting rules and regulations that are available on the Department of Environmental Conservation website.
