A multi-million dollar winning New York Lottery ticket was recently sold at a Speedway gas station in Upstate New York, and someone out there is likely still in shock.

For the first time in 2026, a very lucky person has cashed in and won a staggering amount of money playing Lotto, a draw game from the New York Lottery.

According to lottery officials, the $9.8 million winning ticket from Saturday’s (5/2/2026) drawing was sold in Groton, NY, a small, quiet village in Tompkins County, NY. The winning ticket was purchased at the Speedway gas station located at 202 Main Street.

That ticket matched all six numbers drawn: 08, 13, 28, 35, 49, and 54. To put that into perspective, the odds of hitting the Lotto jackpot are an eye-popping 1 in 45,057,474.

Lottery officials didn't say who purchased the ticket yet, but did say that whoever is holding the ticket will have a choice of how they would like to receive their winnings. They can take the full annuity paid out over time, or go with the lump sum cash option, which is estimated at around $5.1 million before taxes.

First New York Lotto Win in 2026

This win is also the first Lotto jackpot winner in New York since Christmas Eve 2025, when a winning ticket worth $13.9 million was sold on Long Island at Lovely Cards & Gifts in Hicksville, NY.
