We all have those days when we get caught up in the craziness. The work deadlines and other obligations tug at us. They seem to be what is leading, or should I say dragging, us through our day. Those are the days when stopping for a brief moment, taking in our surroundings, and doing something simple and unexpected makes a real difference.

I have had days when I just wanted to get home, but I had to stop at the grocery store. Those are the days when I am going to let someone go ahead of me in line while I wait. It is wild how stealing that brief minute it takes to wait for someone to have a turn before you make your world slow down. It always makes me feel better, even if they do have 10 coupons and are paying with a check they haven't written yet.

Last week, the New York State Police shared one of their troopers practicing a random act of kindness. They called it "doing the right thing," but I see it as also being very thoughtful and a great way to take a break from the patrol car.
