It should come as no shock to you, but Halloween is right around the corner. How did October fly by so fast? One may never know. It probably has something to do with the ongoing pandemic, but I digress.

With Halloween celebrations still up in the air, when it comes to costumes are you willing to spend a fortune on a store-bought getup?

For example, the new "sexy" costume this year is the Mail-In Ballot from Yandy.com. It'll run you about $32. It's literally just a tube dress.

With that being said, thanks to some research from the website Zippia we were able to find out what the most popular costume is in each state. Luckily, New Yorkers could probably save a whole lot of money on Halloween this year.

According to Zippia's "Most Weirdly Popular Halloween Costume," New Yorker's are big fans of dressing up like we're from the 80s.

Our neighbors in New Jersey like dressing up as the Addams Family and those nearby in Connecticut are dressing up like Carol Baskin. Yes, the lady from Tiger King (that may or may have not fed her ex-husband to a bunch of tigers).

If you think about it, you can make an easy costume for fairly cheap. Neon shirts, short-shorts and sweatbands to be an aerobics instructor? Windbreaker jackets and boomboxes? Varsity jacket and acid wash jeans?

The options are endless and could possibly be found in your closet.

What are you dressing up as this year? Are you even going to put in the effort since Halloween parties are frowned upon? Lets us know your plans on Facebook!
