Driver Refuses to Pull Over For Traffic Stop in Westchester

Earlier this week the Westchester County Police Department shared that back on Saturday, October 20th, 2023, there was an incident in another jurisdiction involving an officer and a traffic stop.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and then crashed near the ramp of 683 around the Westchester County Airport. When the car crashed, 4 suspects then fled towards the woods.

Westchester County Police and Bloodhound Track Down 4 Suspects

Westchester County Police shared the following details on a social media post writing:

The vehicle subsequently crashed on the entrance ramp to I-684 northbound near the Westchester County Airport. The fleeing foursome jumped out of the car and ran into the woods in their continuing effort to elude police.

The Westchester County Police Department goes on to explain that after the 4 jumped out of the vehicle officers and Madison the bloodhound K9 got to work. They write:
Officers from multiple agencies responded and established a perimeter. Sgt. Hicks and his partner Madison, supported by Emergency Service Unit officers Byrnes and Hinkley, conducted a track and located the four suspects west of 684 adjacent to the reservoir. They were taken into custody without incident.
In the statement, they add that the  New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police Department proceeded to launch a boat to "box the suspects in on the water side of the wooded area." Westchester County Police were also assisted by the North Castle Police Department and New York State Police.
The 4 suspects, who range in age from 16 to 18, were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, a felony.
