Wappingers Falls Animal Rescue Brings Back Doggy Day Out

Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County is bringing back one of their more popular programs.

It's called Doggy Day Out. The program gives dogs the opportunity to get out of the shelter for the day and in turn helps the pups decompress from stressful shelter life.

These pups just need a little TLC.

On March 23rd, dogs can be picked up between 10 am -11 am at CARE of DC (at 60 Smith Crossing Road, Wappingers Falls). CARE will provide everything you'll need for your outing and the dogs must be dropped off back at CARE by 4pm.

If you're interested in taking a pup out on the town to help CARE of DC, fill out the Google Doc that you can find HERE.

CARE of DC Clears Out Shelter With Interactive Program

This isn't the first time that CARE of DC has hosted the Doggy Day Out program.

Back in August 2024, CARE of DC held their first Doggy Day Out event and every single dog that was in the shelter was matched up with a volunteer! Which meant for the first time in a long time, CARE of DC's dog shelter was cleared out.

While the facility was empty, the staff at CARE was able to give the shelter a deep clean as the dogs had an amazing day out.

Owner of CARE of DC, Karen LeCain told us at the time "It was heartwarming to see so many dogs enjoying new adventures and experiencing life outside the shelter."

The adoptable dogs were seen hanging out at local fire departments, getting ice cream and enjoying the great outdoors.

Have You Met Meatball From CARE of DC?

Recently, we gave our Hometown Hounds spotlight to this lovely little lady:

Her name is Madison, but they lovingly call her Meatball from time to time. Meatball is an older, mixed breed dog who has been returned twice to CARE of DC.

Meatball LOVES humans and wants to be the center of attention. She would do best in a home with no dogs, which her last 2 owners knew but seemed to ignore.

After meeting Meatball I can tell you she is a low maintenance girly, who just wants to be pet, snuggle and snooze. She fell asleep sitting up as I pet her. Too cute!
