Viral video alleges a Hudson Valley cop slammed an innocent teen girl to the ground.

On Monday around 4 p.m., the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to the intersection of the eastbound arterial highway and Hammersley Avenue for multiple calls for a fight involving a large group of students walking home from school.

A 17-second video posted to social media of police responding to the scene shows an officer yanking and slamming a young girl to the ground.

Facebook user Mega Mel Rich posted the video to Facebook and says it was her 15-year-old daughter who was slammed to the ground.

"Today my child was slammed to the ground the concrete pavement by a police officer in the video she was passed out," Mega Mel Rich wrote on Facebook. "There was a fight but none of my kids was fighting they were coming from school but this is what happens to them."

Rich says her daughter was simply walking home from school. According Rich police allege her daughter was resisting arrest. Rich also shared photos of her daughter's injuries to Facebook.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department says they are "aware of a 17-second video, posted to social media, of a police response which spanned more than ten minutes." Calls to the police department over the allegations weren't returned as of this writing.

Authorities believe there were many others filming the incident with their phones and is asking the public to provide any additional video or information regarding the incident.
