2 Orange County Middle School Students Receive Citizen Of The Month Award For Generous Charitable Donation

Fire Destroys Orange County Home

Back on January 6th, 2025 a fire ripped through a home in Orange County.

Unfortunately the house was left destroyed leaving the family to pick up the pieces an rebuild.

However, 2 young community members got to work right away to make sure their neighbors didn't suffer for too long without any help.

Young Bakers Raise Money For Neighbors in Need

Twins Hailee and Madison Lendor saw their neighbors needed a helping hand after the fire and decided to use take their passion of baking and turn it into a generous donation.

The sister, who are Monroe-Woodbury Middle School students, got to work baking near 1,600 cookies. Their mother shared the girls efforts on social media and the community jumped right in to help.

Hailee and Madison, in just 24 hours raised $1,875 for their neighbors.

The girls run their own homegrown Orange County business called Double Baked Culinary and have also appeared on Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network back in 2023.

Needless to say, they know what they're doing in the baking department.

Orange County Names Twin Bakers August Citizens of The Month

Such a generous effort to help their community can't go unnoticed. That's why Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus named Hailee and Madison August Citizens of The Month.

In a press release Neuhaus wrote "“Hailee and Madison Lendor embody what it means to be outstanding citizens." He went on to add:

They have shown compassion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Their kindness inspired our community and sets an example for all of us, proving that no one is too young to make a difference. I’m proud to recognize them as our August Citizens of the Month and can’t wait to see all they will accomplish in the future.”

In the press release we also learned that Hailee and Madison's charity work isn't just limited to this act of kindness. The twins have also worked with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Adopt-A-Family and other organizations.
