An early morning accident on Route 17 in Goshen, New York created a traffic nightmare for commuters Tuesday.

If you were driving anywhere near Exit 124 on New York's Route 17 on Tuesday you are well aware that an incident occurred leading to massive traffic delays for the majority of the morning.

Tractor Trailer Hits Overpass on Route 17 in Goshen, NY

Many commuters in and around Goshen, NY unfortunately started their morning commute on December 10th trying to navigate around an accident involving a tractor-trailer that reportedly hit an overpass. According to the Orange and Rockland County Fire's Facebook page, (which shared a video of the aftermath of the crash below) it involved a tractor-trailer that was hauling a large piece of heavy equipment on the eastbound side of Route 17 near Exit 124.

Reports said that when the truck drove underneath the overpass right before the exit ramp for Florida and Goshen, NY the tall excavator that was on the trailer slammed into the overpass causing the truck and trailer to flip.

Lanes Blocked on Route 17

Three lanes of eastbound traffic were blocked for hours while first responders cleared the scene and inspected the damage done to the overpass. Witnesses at the scene told us that the impact was so severe that many wondered if the Greenwich overpass would be reopened to traffic anytime soon.

The overpass and all lanes on Route 17 eastbound were re-opened a few hours after the incident. Police didn't share any details regarding the driver of the truck, whether or not he was injured in the crash or his current condition, or if any tickets were issued after the crash.
