A Well Known Scam Gets a New Twist in The Town of Chester
Scammers on The Rise in the Hudson Valley
Another day, another scam.
There have been a handful of scams that made their way around the Hudson Valley. Every day local authorities are making sure community members aren't falling for these scams that happen online, in person and over the phone.
Back in September an elderly victim in Ulster County almost sent an "unknown organization" $26,000.
The victim was contacted by someone claiming to be a "Federal Inspector General." The fake Inspector General told the victim they needed to "withdraw a significant amount of cash from her bank account" to prevent criminal charges.
