The big question every year at my house on Thanksgiving is "to cook or not to cook?" Fortunately, if I chose not to cook I always have an invitation to a wonderful friends house who is willing to do the cooking if I bring the wine. That means I am guaranteed a "great" turkey. My only attempt at cooking a turkey was less than tasty.

If you decide this is not your year to cook and no one has offered to cook for you, then you better get planning because time is running out to make reservations. Great restaurants around the valley will be happy to take your reservation and do all the cooking but tables are going fast. I spoke to one popular restaurant in Rhinebeck today and they are down to their last table. I also called around to some of my favorite Hudson Valley restaurants only to find out that they are closed that day or opening late but not serving dinner.

Whether you cook or not you will need conversation for the table so, according to the fiscal times only four towns in the United States have "Turkey" in their name. Check out other weird facts to impress you Thanksgiving dinner pals by clicking below.

And if you do chose to brave the bird Jamie Oliver has a great video recipe for fresh turkey you could take a chance on. It looks so good.
