First responders were called into action Sunday afternoon after a strong odor led to the discovery of a major oil spill that ended up contaminating the Wallkill River in Ulster County, NY.

What looked like a possible fire on the Ridge in New Paltz earlier today was explained by the New Paltz Fire Department.

Active fire fighting activities have ceased for now until tomorrow at the Cragswood Mohonk Preserve ridge line woods fire due to safety concerns with the bad weather.

A woods fire that is believed to have started yesterday afternoon on the Mohonk Preserve ridge line is still burning with crews on site to managing it's spread.
