Stewart’s Sells 5 Stores in Upstate New York
Stewart’s Shops has announced that it has sold six of its locations, including five stores located in Upstate New York.
For many years, Stewart's Shops has been one of New York's favorite places to shop for everything from coffee, snacks, and gas, to milk and ice cream. With over 350 stores scattered across New York it's safe to say that it isn't hard to find a local Stewart's Shop.
Stewart's Shops Expands
Last year, we told you that Stewart's spent approximately $9 million on expansion by acquiring the Jolley Associates convenience store chain. At the time of the announcement, the purchase terms were kept confidential, but they did include 45 Jolley Stores, 38 of which are located in Vermont, two in New Hampshire, and five in New York,, including stores in Queensbury, Clifton Park, Lake George, and Plattsburgh, NY.

A year after that agreement was official, we learned that due to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) competition concerns, Stewarts was required to sell some of the recently acquired stores to new owners, according to WTEN.
New Owners
In total, Stewart's had to sell six stores, including the locations at 1433 Route 9 and 474 Aviation Road in Queensbury, 443 Route 3 in Plattsburgh, 222 Lake Street in Rouses Point, and 4803 Main Street in Manchester, VT. Four of the locations were sold to Mirabito, another convenience store chain with numerous locations across New York, while the other two stores were sold to Prestige Petroleum Corp.

Robin Cooper, the Public Relations Manager for Stewart’s Shops, told WTEN that all of the deals above were finalized last week and the new owners are in the process of converting each of the stores into their respective brands. "We’re happy that we found good operators and we’re still doing business in those markets,” said Cooper.
Cooper also stated that all of the employees at these former Stewart’s locations were all offered positions at other shops within the company.
