Spice Recall Due to Possible Lead Contamination

I've lost count of how many spices I own. I keep my favorites up front, of course, but I really need to go through them and toss a few. This recall may help me do exactly that.

If you love curry or jerk seasonings, this recall could impact you. According to the FDA, if you have purchased various curry powders or jerk seasonings under the brand names of Blue Mountain, Jamaican Choice, Ocho Rios, Oriental, or Grace, they could be included in the recall.

All of these brands were sold by the Oriental Packaging Company either at on-line stores or retail shops nationwide. After a routine sampling by the New York State Health Department, lead was found to be contained in these specific lots and sizes of the bottles.

While there hasn't been any reports of illness due to the lead at the time of this writing, the Oriental Packaging Company and the FDA are urging consumers to dispose of any opened containers and return it to where you bought it for a full refund.
