Speed Enforcement Campaign Starts This Week in Ulster County
If you're driving around the Ulster County area make sure you're paying attention to your speed signs.
This must be why the Ulster County Sheriff's Office is taking so long with their Lip Sync Battle video: they're busy patrolling our streets and keeping us safe.
On Wednesday, August 1st the Ulster County Sheriff's Office released a statement to their Facebook page regarding a speed enforcement campaign.
The press release states that from now until August 7th the Ulster County Sheriffs Office will be taking part in the statewide "Speed Awareness Week Enforcement Mobilization."
During Speed Awareness Week the Sheriffs Office will be "conducting numerous traffic enforcement details targeting speed violators" and other traffic violations. Officers are hoping drivers will pay attention and urging them to "obey the sign or pay the fine.”
Speed plays a huge factor in many motor vehicle incidents in New York State. According to the press release "In 2016, nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic fatalities in New York were caused by speeding. 314 people lost their lives in these preventable collisions." They add that August was the deadliest month when it came to speed involved accidents, taking the lives of 39 individuals.
