One Of The Great Sporting Venues in The World: Saratoga Race Course

Did you know that one of the greatest sporting venues is in New York State? According to Sports Illustrated Saratoga Race Course was named one of the world's great sporting venues.

The New York Racing Association writes "the past comes alive every summer in the historic grandstand as guests experience not only the best in thoroughbred racing, but the unmatched ambience and charm of Saratoga Springs."

Saratoga has been hosting races since August 3rd, 1863. Thousands of locals and tourist turned out to see Lizzie W. beat Captain Moore in the best-of-three series of races according to the NYRA.

Thousands will flock to Saratoga for the 2025 season and are in for a treat.

More Races Added to 2025 Saratoga Race Season

Mark Mulholland of NewsChannel 13 has confirmed some exciting news for the 2025 Saratoga Race Course season. There will be an additional 9 races added to the line up.

According to Mulholland, The New York State Gaming Commission has approved the plants for an "extended five-day Belmont at Saratoga Racing Festival."

The racing festival will start on Wednesday June 4th and run through Sunday, June 8th with the actual Belmont Stakes running on Saturday, June 7th.

The report goes on to say that for the first time ever the New York Racing Association will be hosting a special "Fourth of July Racing Festival at Saratoga." It's a 4 day event with racing kicking off on Thursday July 3rd, until Sunday July 6th.

NYRA will host a special Fourth of July Racing Festival at Saratoga – four days of racing beginning Thursday, July 3 and ending Sunday, July 6.

With all of that being said, the report goes on to add that the NYRA has "made clear for months that the Fourth of July Festival would be a one-off event." They explain that it's due to the fact that the event coincides with the "early start to the traditional Saratoga meet."

The 2025 Saratoga season starts July 10th and ends September 1st.
